Over 60% med officers reported for duty in Sabah, Sarawak, says Dr Dzul

Only 63% of medical officers offered permanent appointments in Sabah and Sarawak reported for duty, with family separation, rural postings, relocation costs and limited career opportunities among the reasons for rejecting placements.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Oct 8) that the Health Ministry is improving placement procedures and allowances, while planning a 30% quota for specialist training for doctors serving in the two states.
