Parliament: Over 2.7k Malaysians arrested abroad for various offences

A total of 2,742 Malaysians have been detained abroad for committing various offences as of December 2020.
Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar said the Malaysian diplomatic missions are responsible for providing consular assistance, in line with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations 1963, to which Malaysia is a party.
He said this in reply to Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem (GPS-Serian) during Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (Dec 9).
