Pasir Gudang MP calls for state of emergency to be declared over chemical spill

Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim appealed to the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday to do away with “technical red-tape” and allow an emergency motion to be tabled immediately over the chemical dumping incident in his constituency.
He said it was an urgent public matter and should be discussed immediately.
506 people, maily school children, have sought treatment following exposure to toxic fumes from chemical waste dumped into Sungai Kim Kim last Thursday.
