People from communities will assist protection officers under Children's Act to tackle child safety

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said 249 people have been identified as Assistant Protection Officers as provided for under the Children's Act 2001 (Amended 2016). Those appointed will assist the Protector of the Department of Social Welfare as frontliners in handling cases of abuse and neglect of children.
