Peru candidate assassinated: Motive points to corruption exposés

Peruvian regional candidate Susy Aponte Polo, known as "China Polo," was shot dead Saturday while campaigning in Caraz, Ancash, ahead of October 4 elections.

The journalist and mother of four had recently accused a senior police official of ordering threats against her.

Two Venezuelan men have been arrested.
