PM announces RM1.5bil maintenance allocation for all schools

In his National Day 2026 address on Sunday (Aug 30), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a 50% increase in maintenance allocations for all types of schools next year, from RM1bil to RM1.5bil.

He said the Education Ministry had been instructed to visit every district and assess schools’ applications for infrastructure repairs, with maintenance works expected to begin as early as January 2027.
