Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had to clear a hurdle first before he could declare a state of emergency, which was getting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's consent.
To achieve that, Muhyiddin traveled to Kuantan to have an audience with the King on Friday afternoon. Muhyiddin and his entourage of ministers and government officials left the palace after a more than two hour-long meeting.
A source said that there will be no announcement on Friday night of the proclamation of a state of emergency as expected earlier.
