PM sets mid-December deadline to resolve delays in MyDigital ID and 5G rollout

The Prime Minister has set a mid-December deadline to address delays in two major national digital initiatives: the MyDigital ID programme and the rollout of the dual 5G network, says Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
Speaking at the Communications Ministry's weekly press conference on Friday (Dec 6), Fahmi said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed concern over the sluggish progress of MyDigital ID, with only 1.319 million registrations recorded as of 1 pm on Dec 5.
Regarding the dual 5G network initiative, Fahmi noted that delays caused by unresolved agreements between Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) and telecommunications companies have disrupted the tender process for the second network, which is limited to telcos that have signed shareholding agreements.
