After getting into a heated debate a day ago with Barisan Nasional MPs over the issue of the previous government’s failure to pay to businesses their Goods and Services Tax refunds, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng revealed on Wednesday that there is a shortfall of RM18bil in a trust fund where GST refunds were supposed to be deposited by the government. He told the Dewan Rakyat that the Barisan Nasional government robbed the people of their money. He added that the present Pakatan Harapan government will look for the money next year to pay to the businesses.
