Putin orders troops to Ukraine on 'peacekeeping' mission

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian army to launch what Moscow called a peacekeeping operation in the breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine after urging the Russian federal assembly and people to support the government’s decision to recognise the two areas as independent.
