Rapid Rail to step up maintenance, monitoring efforts following KJ line disruptions

The Kelana Jaya LRT Line suffered service disruptions on May 12 and May 18, with investigations revealing a damaged battery cable insulator in the first incident, the first such failure since the line opened in 1998.

Rapid Rail COO Nor Azmi Mohd Yusof attributed some failures to ageing trains and temporary instability from ongoing upgrade works, while noting the line's load factor hit 109% in April.
