RM11bil in unclaimed money belonging to the public, says Ahmad Maslan

After a visit to the Accountant General’s Department in Putrajaya on Wednesday, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan told reporters that there was approximately RM11 billion in unclaimed money (WTD) belonging to the public as of March 2023.
He said the amount was out of the RM14.1 billion received by the Accountant-General’s Department from companies or firms in accordance with Section 8 of the Unclaimed Money Act from 1977 until March 2023.
