The Thai authorities are closely monitoring a bridge in Phang Nga which is on the verge of cracking due to inundation.
Phang Nga’s deputy governor is monitoring the flash floods on Phet Kasem road after a storm hit the Andaman Sea.
Over the past three days, the heavy downpour has caused flash floods in the province, affecting the main road and residential areas.
Small vehicles were unable to use the road while drivers had to find alternative routes.
The water level in some areas of the main road measures up to 40 centimetres.
Over 50 residents had to relocate their belongings to a higher ground.
The main bridge in the vicinity has started to crack and is deemed a risk to motorists.
The authorities are examining the structure’s sturdiness in addition to monitoring the bridge constantly for safety purposes.
