Shouting match erupts in Parliament over monsoon tourism proposal

A shouting match erupted in the Dewan Rakyat after a Pakatan Harapan MP coined Kelantan exco’s suggestion to promote the monsoon season as a tourism event, calling it “a dumb idea.”

During the debate on the Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change Ministry’s (NRES) Budget 2025 at the committee stage on Monday (Dec 2), Jimmy Puah Wee Tse (PH-Tebrau) criticised Opposition lawmakers for not addressing the issue and questioned whether Perikatan Nasional supported the suggestion.

The heated exchange lasted several minutes before presiding speaker Suhaizan Kaiat intervened, requesting Puah to retract his remark.
