Dozens of protesters, including actor Susan Sarandon, were detained by police in New York on Thursday (Sept 24) after staging a sit-in in the roadway to demand an end to US arms supplies to Israel.

Elsewhere, pro-Palestinian protesters marched through Manhattan, condemning the war in Gaza and calling for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s arrest after his address to the United Nations.
