A Thai soap called A Lady’s Flame has angered a descendent of Myanmar’s last king as it was said to depict the lives of the royal family in the past.
Soe Win, the great grandson of Myanmar's last monarch King Thibaw, expressed dissatisfaction over the show, saying it was a sign of disrespect to the Myanmar royal family.
However, the producer of the show said the series is fictional.
Soe Win has urged the drama to be taken off the air so as to maintain the relations between the two countries.
He said the plot involved an internal palace struggle for power and depicted scenes where members of the royal family slapped one another.
Myanmar’s monarchy was abolished in 1885 by the British.
