Thailand proclaims its new king

His majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun was proclaimed the 10th king of the Chakri dynasty on Dec 1, succeeding his father King Bhumibol Adulyadej who passed away on Oct 13.
“I accept the invitation in order to follow his majesty King Bhumibol’s will and for the benefit of all Thai people,” he said in a reply to the invitation during an inauguration which was televised across the kingdom.
