A new two-storey town hall has sprung up in Shirataka, a town with a population of about 13,000 nestled in the centre of Japan’s Yamagata prefecture.
Completed last year, the building was constructed almost entirely out of wood, in an effort to revive the once-thriving lumber industry the town.
