Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Friday said anyone with money can invest in the island of Langkawi and it is up to the Kedah state government to approve the project.
He said this when responding to the announcement of developer Ting Pek Khiing’s Dubai-like Langkawi New City development project, which costs RM 30 billion.
Ting's company Ekran Bhd was awarded the construction contract for the controversial Bakun Dam in 1994, which was opposed by environmentalists and native rights groups.
