Unifil to decide on MALBATT withdrawal from Lebanon, says Defence Minister

When asked on Friday (Oct 11) about the need to recall members of the Malaysian Battalion Team (MALBATT) 850-11 in Lebanon following Israel’s attack in the south, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin emphasised that the safety of Malaysian personnel serving under the United Nations remains his top priority.
He noted that the Defence Ministry receives reports three to four times daily from the peacekeepers' Joint Headquarters on the situation in Lebanon, and any decision to withdraw Malaysian troops will be made by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
