Urban Renewal Bill targets urban decay, not Malay rights, says Anwar

The Urban Renewal Bill aims to address deteriorating living conditions in urban areas and is not intended to undermine Malay rights, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Responding to Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin during Prime Minister’s Question Time on Thursday (Aug 28), Anwar said the Bill will proceed to its second reading, with the government remaining open to feedback from the Opposition.
He urged for space to implement the Bill, noting its goal is to provide better, more comfortable housing to meet the needs of the majority, particularly Malays.
