US happy with Malaysia's efforts to curb trans-shipment, says Tengku Zafrul

The United States is satisfied with Malaysia’s efforts to curb the trans-shipment of products that do not originate in the country, said Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
He added, however, that Malaysia has raised concerns with Washington over sectoral tariffs impacting key industries such as semiconductors.
In response, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer emphasised the sector’s importance to national security, noting that while the US aims to bolster its domestic supply chain, Southeast Asia remains a vital part of it.
