Volte-face on ICERD: "Situation not conducive," says Khalid

Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said the current climate in the country is not conducive to discuss issues relating to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD).
Khalid said that when asked to comment on the Government’s decision not to ratify the International Convention on ICERD at a Cabinet meeting on Friday, adding that the Federal Constitution protects the special position and rights of the Malays, but has nothing to do with race supremacy.
