Wan Azizah: We’re on the latest child marriage case but states have jurisdiction

Deputy Prime Minister and also Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the Government is looking into the latest case of underage marriage reported in Kelantan, where a 15-year-old girl married a 44-year-old father of two.
Dr Wan Azizah said her officers had met the girl and her family, adding that the couple had received approval from the Shariah Court and the Government must abide by the states’ jurisdiction in shariah matters.
