Wee: Amendments to stiffen penalties for drink driving to be brought to Cabinet on Friday (July 17)

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said on Wednesday (July 15) that the proposed amendments to increase penalties for those driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be tabled to the Cabinet for approval on Friday (July 17).
The amendments will be to Section 41 to Section 45 of the Road Transport Act, adding that the amendments will include mandatory jail sentences, longer jail time, higher fines and a longer licence suspension period.
