Anwar: Royal institution will fail if rulers can be changed ‘from month to month’

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia’s constitutional monarchy could be undermined if rulers were changed according to political pressure rather than constitutional and legal processes.

He stressed that the Malay Rulers must act within the Constitution and should not be influenced by politicians, warning that attempts to remove or replace a ruler whenever a decision displeases certain groups would create instability and weaken the institution.
