Party presidents must agree to 30% female political quota proposal, says Nancy

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri says the proposal for 30% female representation in politics must first gain the backing of all political party presidents, as the Federal Government cannot impose such a quota.

Speaking after attending the Ministry's Budget 2027 engagement session on Friday (Aug 14), Nancy said she would raise the matter again with the Prime Minister and explore alternative ways to encourage greater female participation in politics.
