Zahid echos calls for Parliament’s dissolution, saying Tanjung Piai’s victory is a ‘signal’

Following the landslide victory in the Tanjung Piai by-election, Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he supports the push for a dissolution of Parliament to pave way for a new general election.
Zahid, who is also Umno president, told reporters that at Parliament lobby on Monday, adding that all MPs shared the same sentiment even though he said the prerogative was with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The Barisan chairman added that the Tanjung Piai by-election also saw a swing of support from the Chinese to Barisan in not just the Chinese but also from the youth and it shows that the people have rejected the Pakatan Harapan government.
